Victoria Harrington is the Principal of Harrington Family Law. We are family law solicitors based in Cleckheaton, with a strong affiliation to Birstall, and Brighouse, West Yorkshire. We specialise in issues relating to the family.
Our solicitors abide by the Resolution Code of Practice, a copy of which is provided to clients at the beginning of the case. Resolution aims to ensure that family disputes are conducted as constructively as possible and in a non confrontational manner; the parties are encouraged to try to settle cases at an early stage, and are encouraged to ensure that the interests of the children are kept at the forefront of negotiations. This approach has been shown to assist the family as a whole to emerge from the breakdown of relationships.
Having said that, there are some cases where litigation is unavoidable and in those cases Harrington Family Law provide robust representation coupled with sensible and pragmatic advice.
Victoria has a strong connection with the area and it's people especially those of Birstall. She works in Cleckheaton alongside her Brighouse based colleague Carol-Anne Baker.
Victoria's expertise is dealing with relationship breakdown.
Currently ten years in Heckmondwike, Victoria has lived in the Cleckheaton and Birstall area for twenty years.
I am a mother of four boys who have all been to school in Birstall. As a family we have many friends in the village. My husband's family have lived in the Birstall area for over 40 years. In this time, working as a family solicitor and through our personal involvement with families in the community, (I was chair of Birstall St Patrick's Infant & Junior School PFA and my husband was a school governor for many years), I have developed a caring approach which I always seek to adopt in my work as a Family Solicitor.
Victoria is a Resolution accredited specialist family solicitor, specialising in ancillary relief (financial affairs on the breakdown of marriage and civil partnership) and domestic violence.
Victoria qualified in 1994, and has worked exclusively in family law. She deals with all aspects of relationship breakdown including Gay and Lesbian relationships and disputes over children. She has represented clients from all backgrounds and incomes, and clients find her approachable and understanding at a time of emotional trauma.

I am a mother of two children who have been educated in Halifax throughout. I am committed to representing clients who are separated from their partners and do so with a professional but caring attitude. I realise that many clients find the initial appointment daunting. My aim is always to put my clients at ease.
Sarah is well known for her understanding approach given the sensitive position many of her clients find themselves in.
A particular area of interest is private law Children Act proceedings including child arrangement orders. Sarah also deals with same sex relationship break downs, domestic abuse, divorce and financial settlement cases.
I joined Harrington Family Law in January 2016 as a paralegal and since that time I have gained experience across all areas of family law.
I began my training contract with Harrington Family Law in September 2017. Whilst working full time as a trainee solicitor I also studypart time at Leeds Law School on the Legal Practice Course which I am hoping complete this summer. In addition, I am studying for her Master’s Degree at Leeds Law School with a research project based around the complex area of international relocation.
Before pursuing a career in law I worked for over ten years within the Social Services sector, working on the front line with "families in need" and "looked after children". This experience has given me the skill set required to deal with sensitive issues that arise in family law in an empathetic yet professional manner.
I am currently on secondment two days per at another law firm gaining experience in Wills and Probate and Conveyancing.
I am looking forward to becoming a fully qualified solicitor and hope to specialise in Children matters once qualified.
I am a mother of three children who in addition to working and study, keep me very busy. In my spare time I can usually be found on the side line of a football pitch or netball court cheering my children, on or travelling to yet another dancing competition. When I get the opportunity I enjoy trips to the theatre and long country walks with our dog Oreo. I am also trying to get back into netball, but have to admit I am a little rusty after quite a few years out! I like to do my bit for charity when I can, and this year hope to do the national Three Peaks which is somewhat tamer than my previous challenges which have included a bungee jump and skydive from 1700ft.
